For those of you looking for me on the web, I was born Laurie Conrad, grew up in Northampton, Massachusetts, and went to Wesleyan University (in Connecticut). I now live in central New Jersey. Not the New Jersey of the Turnpike and its polluting smokestacks, but a kinder, gentler and somewhat rural New Jersey.
After I graduated from college with a degree in English my father said I should take computer classes. He always had good advice, so I did, and have made my living with computers ever since. I work at Princeton University where I write software for molecular biologists.
I am married to a multi-talented man, Phillip, an otoneurologist, Township Councilman, woodworker and former B-52 pilot. We have two beagles: Sherman and Stanley, and memories of three others: Clayton, Spenser and Scooter. I have posted a photo of the boys each weekday for the past thirteen years. The blog can be found at The Daily Digital with years and years of archives at Beagles on the Web,
My favorite activities involve water. I have been a swimmer all my life and am so lucky to be able to walk over and swim at the fabulous DeNunzio pool at Princeton each morning. Fifteen years ago Phillip and I took up scuba diving and now our vacations are centered around it. I shoot underwater photographs, which you'll find in abundance here.
I have also written about my two hospitalizations for bipolar disorder, in 2005 and 2006. While I prefer to be known from this website as "that pretty good photographer," as opposed to "that crazy lady", the stories have resonated with so many people that I leave them there. Fortunately, my illness is well under control.
